Modern Deco Necklace in Woad Blue, Potters Pink and Green and Yellow Earth

Inspired by Art Deco shapes and motifs, my Modern Deco necklace is made from hand coloured and cut polymer clay beads threaded in a curved fan shape.

The beads are attached to circular recycled sterling silver chain that has been hammered to flatten the links and the chain fastens with a handmade sterling silver clasp.

This is a statement necklace that makes quite an impact when worn.  The maximum worn length of the necklace is approximately 20 inches but it can be worn shorter if preferred.

This necklace is made from natural earth and plant pigments - the blues tones come from woad and indigo plant pigments, the yellow tones come from a mix of woad yellow pigment from the flowers of the plant and yellow ochres, the greens come from green earth pigments and the pale and earthy, dusky pinks come from Potter's Pink. 

Note about Woad and Indigo Pigments: woad and indigo plant pigments are fugative which means that they are not light fast and will gradually fade over time.  I have added a little Prussian Blue pigment to some of the darker beads to prevent any fading but I am assuming that the lighter blues will gradually start to fade over time - a bit like denim does.  Please avoid leaving the necklace in direct sunlight as this will accelerate any possible colour fading.
